About the Artist

Wendy

SINCE 1985, when I graduated with my M.F.A. in Medical Illustration
from
the Rochester Institute of Technology (B.A. in Biology, cum laude,
University of Rochester, 1983), I have been pursuing a career as a medical
and scientific illustrator from my studio on Staten Island, New York. This
has been the ideal occupation for me since I get a chance to draw and learn
about some of the things that interest me most-- matters related to science,
anatomy and nature as well as the power and beauty of visual
communication.
I work in digital (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop) and traditional media
(pen and ink, pencil, watercolor) and fluidly combine the two processes for
pleasing and practical results. My primary area of focus is textbook
publishing, but I welcome any work that is interesting and creative. I enjoy
artistic problem solving and I like the challenge of creating images or designs
that clarify, simplify and organize complex concepts or images.

Currently I am studying printmaking with Herman Zaage at the Art Lab, the art school at Snug Harbor Cultural Institute on Staten Island. I have included some of these prints on my site. As long as I am busy thinking, learning, creating and sipping a good cup of coffee, I am quite happy!

I hope you have enjoyed my site so far. Please take a moment to smell the flowers (or at least look at them!) at my Garden Update page and call or e-mail if you have any questions or comments!
